Do you need a Live Event DJ?

Image
Have you ever been to a live event? Maybe you’re familiar with the traditional conversational hum that’s associated with a trade show floor. Maybe you’ve seen a motivational speaker do a keynote at a sales conference. Maybe you’ve been to a live promotional event. Being a DJ and an Entrepreneur, I’ve both performed at and attended several live events. One thing that all events have in common is the engagement factor. Simply put, once things get boring, people leave. If not physically, they check out mentally, making a lot of the content and sales efforts futile as the attendee sits in either complete overwhelm or utter boredom. And when you’re attending another one of those conferences that’s notorious for 12 hour days with limited breaks and information and sales overload, it’s really easy for your audience to check out. With that said, businesses must constantly strive to find ways to peak interest and increase attendee engagement to help improve attendance and maximize sal...

Song Selection at Corporate Events

Image
One of easiest ways to bring life to your next Corporate or Promotional Event is to add a live DJ! In the last article, I discussed ways to use a DJ to take your live event to the next level. ( Click Here  to check out that article) And while adding a DJ is one of the most versatile and cost effective ways to kick your event up a notch, it’s important to understand when selecting your entertainment, that playing for a party and playing a promotional event are two very different things. To be most effective, you’ll want to book a DJ who understands the 4 factors that impact standard song selection at Corporate and Promotional events. 1. What is the purpose of the event?  The difference between a good Dj and a GREAT Dj is that they take this into consideration for every show. What is the client’s goal? That should be one of the top priorities on the mind of your DJ, most especially when playing for a promotional corporate event. Here’s an example. When I walk in the do...

Sporting Events DJ near Tampa Bay

When it comes to sporting events, there are a few key ways that a skilled DJ can add great value, and an unskilled DJ can make a negative impact on your event. Understanding the role that the DJ plays will help you in screening and selecting the vendor that’s best for you. 1. A skilled Sports DJ Will Help Set The Tone For Your Event.  The most obvious impact a DJ has on a sporting event is on the energy of the overall event. Have you ever walked into a room and the energy was automatically somber? Lower energy or depressing music has an immediate impact on mood and energy. Careful song selection to ensure a steady flow of HIGH Energy is more important at a sporting event than at any other event type. An unskilled DJ with poor song selection (or no DJ and someone’s phone plugged into a speaker) can have a negative impact on everything from the way people remember the event to the way the athletes perform to the amount of time that people stay. The coach I was speaking with...

Meet DJ Shannon C. A DJ, Entrepreneur, Radio Personality, and Business Owner dedicated to inspiring happiness and healing through music. A Born and Raised Florida Girl with a Passion, a Laptop and a dream, I am honored to work in an industry where I can help people to experience joy, nostalgia, and escape through music. Through digital DJ services, customized performances, thoughtful song selection, and community education, I help people like you experience the joy of music when attending a DJ Shannon C event. A Question that I’m Frequently Asked is “How Did You Get Started as a Dj?” For as long as I can remember, I’ve been completely in love with music. My grandmother started me on the piano at 5, and by 7 I could sit down and play songs I would hear on the radio. My musical ear was always very strong. I always gravitated to musical instruments, so it was no surprise that by age 12, I was the lead flutist in my middle school orchestra, and by 16, a lead trombonist in o...

Things You Should Ask Before Hiring Your Next Event DJ

Image
If you’re getting stressed out trying to figure this out, don’t worry. I’ve got you covered. Below you’ll find 14 Questions that you should DEFINITELY ask your next potential event DJ before hiring. 1. Does the DJ Have Availability on your Event Date/Time? Sometimes I ask this question first. Sometimes I save it for last. But in the interest of being pragmatic, I’m putting this question first. After all, if they’ve not got your date/time available then I would imagine that they’re off the list. Make sure that the DJ personally has availability on your date. Some DJS / Companies will book the event and pass it along to a different DJ on the team. Be sure you know who will be coming to your event! 2. Ask the DJ to Describe Their DJ Style This is especially important if you’ve not had a chance to hear a sample of work or see them perform live before. You’ll want to know if their performance and music style will work with the vibe you’re going for. Not all DJs play Multi Genre/...
